Gene-Alts: The New Kind of Human

Background: The year shall be 2053, half a century from now. There has been heavy research and experiments in the production of genetically enhancing the average person in many fields. Certain specified ones are: Intelligence, Strength, Endurance, Charisma, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution, Perception, Speed, and Agility. However, these are only the ones widely known and everything is still in its early stages. Nevertheless, there have been many volunteers taken in for the sake of more research and for the most part, it seemed to be a success. People who had Intelligence enhancers were able to take tests better and calculate complex problems that they could never understand before. People with Endurance enhancers could survive in the harshest simulated conditions such as deserts or tundra. Those with Strength enhancers could perform great feats such as smashing clean through buildings. Dexterity enhanced people were able to do so much with their hands with such skill, a simple task like shuffling cards could leave others amazed for hours. Agility enhanced volunteers could swiftly move their bodies from one position to another with no trouble at all. And so on. The ethical debate was shut down since all of this was done through voluntary action. Nonetheless, conspiracy ensues. Recent activity shows that there are more ways to enhance people's physique to improve their ways of life. Some have been done without any legal consent and others even through brute force. There is no knowledge as to how high the conspiracy goes or what exactly is going on, just that there have been more and more "Gene-alts" (as they have been called) appearing where unsuspected. The real reason for wanting or having genetic alterations of oneself is still a mystery, but as of now, people are trying to find out why so many are around and how to stop them from taking over the world as it is now.

Rules: In this RP, you can choose to be a researcher, scientist, Gene-alt, normal human citizen, government official, criminal, or any variation of these. In fact, if you can think up another kind of character to be, tell me about it and we'll see if it works. If you choose to combine some Genetic Alterations, you cannot have more than two. This is so that your characters are limited. If you notice, the stuff you can alter that are listed all have their weaknesses as well as strengths. Some alterations may be favoring another in one area while having a disadvantage in another. Regardless, you can only have two maximum alterations. Keep in mind that this does not mean you get the full effect of both, it becomes half and half. So someone with a Strength and Perception alteration will not be as good in either as someone who has ONLY Strength or ONLY Perception. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, here are the required stats.

That should be it for now, and sorry if this kind of forces you to be a Gene-alt but it would be nice if we had characters who were not. This has so much of the Alteration stuff because if there is anyone with them, it needs to be detailed enough. Don't think you have to be one who has an Alteration. Actually, if there are not enough "regular" people, we might have to make two characters: one with them and one without. Oh well, I hope this picks up.

More Rules: All right, this made me think. If two parents are Gene-alts, their children will NOT automatically get the parents' bonuses and then be able to get even more enhancements. Basically, children born under Gene-alt parents are still normal children. Becoming a Gene-alt is never a natural process, so anyone who is one underwent some sort of surgery/injection/pill/whatever method in order to become one. You can argue how if you alter the genetics, people will be able to pass that on to children. However, in this specific world, the enhancements have nothing to do with reproduction; they just enhance performance for a person in a specific area. All right, back to posting.
